McCullers and Montalvo | Charlie McCullers and Cecilia Montalvo | Barrier Island, study no.14, Pine Island Sound, Florida | $2200.00 unframed

Charlie is a working photographer from Atlanta.  He matriculated from the University of Georgia with a BFA, and the Savannah College of Art & Design with an MA and MFA in photography.  His work continues to be published and acknowledged, most notably by the Tate Gallery in London, the National Gallery of Art, in Washington, DC, the High Museum in Atlanta, and on behalf of the Sir Elton John Photography Collection.  Charlie also serves as principal photographer for Atlanta Ballet, a position he has held since 2000.

Cecilia earned her MFA in photography at the Savannah College of Art & Design, in Atlanta.  She was born and raised in Miami.  After graduating from the University of Virginia, she worked at The Phillips Collection, Smithsonian Magazine, and for Harvard University at Dumbarton Oaks, in Washington, DC.

This collaboration is about the condition of permanent change, as evinced in the dynamic nature of South Florida’s barrier islands. It’s built on shared thematic and process interests.  Charlie and Cecilia, in their own ways, work on the meaning of divided origins, and how mythologies of belonging operate.
