Unlike painters, all photographers drive – They’ve got to get to their subjects.

The theme is not about just the automobile but how the automobile changed photography – Walker Evans, Robert Frank, Stephen Shore, Alec Soth. The first solo photography exhibition at MOMA in 1938 – Walker Evans – American Photographs – featured mainly images Evans made on the road – driving across the country with a camera.
The automobile changed the course of photography.
So photographing from the road, the automobile, summer, road trips, mobility, travel, roadside, freedom, vacation, memory – want to stay away from nostalgia although really hard with the theme of the exhibition.
