Maja Parker is a documentary photographer from Cape Cod, Massachusetts studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. As an outsider to the region, she has found an interest in exploring Southern culture and value systems, as well as the economic impact of America’s changing rural landscape. Within her work, Parker navigates the sociopolitical climate of the United States by way of portraying current events and the present state of affairs, through photography and other media. She believes that in a time as influential as the 21st century, it is pertinent to be the conveyor of these issues. Through the future evolution of her work, she hopes to integrate art with activist strategy.
