Gina Cholick is a Los Angeles based photographer and artist. Her work is driven by light and explores themes of identity, longing and life’s journey. She combines self-portraits and landscapes to evoke a sense of mystery. She received her BA in Photography at Montana State University.

 

Her work has been exhibited nationally in spaces such as the San Diego Art Institute, the Robert Berman Gallery, Fabrik Projects Gallery, and the Los Angeles Center of Photography. Her images have been featured in publications such as Lenscratch, F-Stop Magazine, and the Detroit Center for Contemporary Photography. She was a finalist for Critical Mass in 2017.

 

Equipment:

 

I shoot with the Canon R5 & a 50mm f/1.2 lens. In this image, I strategically shaped daylight in my home studio and added a pop of light with a led flashlight. I shoot tethered to my MacBook pro which really helps in body positioning feedback while doing self-portraits.
