Bio:

I graduated from Rollins College with a degree in music, studied opera in New York, and after a career in banking ( a strange detour, right?) I studied at the International Center for Photography. I found street photography to be the perfect medium, a true American art form. It combines the social landscape, use of the day or night’s light, the styles of the times, neighborhood architecture, and, of course, personal observations and interactions. My work has been exhibited around the country and is held in a number of private collections. (more information about exhibits at website: sandrajettonphotography.com )

Statement:

Statement: I am a photographer working primarily on the streets on New York, drawn to the idiosyncratic, the off-kilter, the darkly humorous – a sneak-thief stealing small stories one image at a time. The image, Two Women, is one of those small stories.

Statement:

Stare Downis part of my ongoing photographic series Birds of a Feather, where I explore the intersection of conversation, connection, and the quiet wonderment shared between us and our feathered friends. Birds move through our world with a rhythm and presence that often goes unnoticed—until a moment of eye contact, curiosity, or unexpected interaction reminds us that we are not simply observers, but participants in a larger dialogue.

This image captures one of those moments, where I found myself locked in a brief, almost playful confrontation with a bird whose personality felt as bold and present as any human subject I’ve photographed. There is an honesty in that exchange, a mix of curiosity, confidence, and mutual awareness captured in that moment.

Throughout Birds of a Feather, I seek to reveal these subtle yet profound interactions. Whether I’m photographing birds in flight or catching them mid-conversation in a park, my aim is to celebrate their individuality, expressive nature, and the small but meaningful connections we engage in. These connections remind me that wonder is always available if we’re willing to slow down, look closer, and meet the natural world eye-to-eye.

— Roman Coia

Bio:

Roman Keith Coia, a Penn State University graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, is a West Chester, Pennsylvania based artist who has spent over 28 years navigating a career that bridges commercial image making, personal portraiture, and compelling fine art photography. His work reflects a refined blend of thoughtful composition and artistic intuition, resonating with both clients and collectors alike.

Roman’s photographic range spans authentic portraiture of people and pets, heirloom pieces, vintage toys and objects, as well as disregarded landscapes, each captured through his distinct and thoughtful perspective. His images often evoke memory, emotion, and tension, inviting viewers to pause and engage more deeply with the familiar and the forgotten.

My interest in photography started early in a small town high school while mentored by a professional photographer. This ignited my passion for black and white photography and the creative venue of the darkroom.

My professional career started when I joined the Marine Corps. Initially I started in the infantry continuing my passion by purchasing my first camera and shooting operations though that was not my job. Upon reenlistment, I moved into the photography field still shooting operations, but now in an official capacity. I managed daily operations of the photo labs mentoring others in the art of photography and darkroom creativity. I supported the mission of Public Affairs with my photographs and was published in several military publications. After a 20-year rewarding Marine Corps career, I continued in multiple commercial photographic labs across the country moving with my military spouse. The highlight of my civilian career was working for Army Times Publishing Company as their lab technician and freelance photographer receiving many by-lines over the course of four years.

Over the years my love of cameras drove me to expand my camera expertise. I started with Canon moving to the several versions of the Nikon as my professional camera choice. Due to my love of nature I started in the world of landscape photography. A purchase of a Mamiya RB67 helped me refine my landscape photography skills and continue with film as my favorite medium. Exploring what nature has to offer and looking for the unique perspective in my photos allowed me to expand my love of the darkroom even more by eventually building my own home darkroom. This afforded opportunities to display my work within group exhibitions, galleries, and online venues.

With the advent of digital formats and changes in the industry, I finally transitioned to a Nikon D750 as my daily camera. I hope that my lifetime passions are communicated in my photos even to this day.

Undertow

Anxiety has been a constant presence in my life for as long as I can remember. The series Undertow, from which the image Breath is drawn, is my translation of this internal restlessness into visible form. In making this work, I came to understand my anxiety as both adversary and protector. A low hum through adulthood, anxiety has come roaring back amid the hormonal chaos of perimenopause.

In this series, I use black and white imagery with touches of colour, double exposures and textured layers to evoke the starkness and complexity of my emotions. The first part depicts how anxiety feels to me, drawing on motifs from vivid dreams — threatening urban landscapes interspersed with natural elements like sharp pine needles or tangled roots.

Artist Statement
Nicholas Dantona

I am a child and a product of the Sixties who has had the good fortune of a successful career as a creative professional and artist. My work is influenced by the music, message and events of that generation:
Love is the most powerful force in the universe.

I make photographs that attempt spiritual depth and meaning, challenging an age of scientific materialism, nihilism and spiritual bankruptcy.

I make photographs as a quest for authenticity and a plea for the rediscovery of connection.

I make photographs in pursuit of love and the Divine Source of Love.

As an artist and as a man I make this statement: Love is the answer.

Neal retired in 2013 from a career as a financial executive working with early-stage, venture capital financed technology companies. In retirement, he has expanded a longtime interest in photography to an active pursuit of photographing pretty much anything in nature. He is a member of the Atlanta Photography Group, the Peachtree City Photography Club, and is co-coordinator of the Griffin Chapter of the Georgia Nature Photographers Association.

One of Neal’s other interests is fly fishing, particularly in areas of western Montana and Wyoming. When fishing rivers from a drift boat, Neal usually has his camera with him safely stored in a dry bag until a photo opportunity. One fishing expedition was on Earthquake Lake on the Madison River northwest of West Yellowstone Montana. This lake is referred to as “Quake Lake” by the locals and was formed in 1959 when an earthquake caused a rock slide that partially dammed the Madison River. The scene of 65-year-old remnants of trees along the former river bank was particularly special in the early morning light and fog off the water.

Bio:

Nancy A. Scherl is a fine art portrait photographer based in New York City. She distinguishes between her social commentary and social documentary work. For the former, she stages her subjects and often applies metaphor and cinema’ verite.’ In her Social Documentary portraiture Nancy emulates cinema verite’ and incorporates Cartier Bresson’s ‘decisive moment.’

Nancy completed an MFA in Photography, Video and Related Media at New York City’s School of Visual Arts, following her undergraduate studies in documentary and fine art photography at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a Life Member of the American Society of Media Photographers, where she served as a board member from 2016 to 2019. Nancy served as board member of the Katonah Museum Artist’s Association in Katonah, NY (2017-2024) as President emerita, (2020-2022), as well as Treasurer, Archivist and Co-Chair of Programs. She founded, produced and moderated SHOP-TALK, a round table discussion series about art, produced for the KMAA.

Scherl has exhibited globally including at FotoNostrum Mediterranean House of Photography, PX3 Espace Beaurepaire, House of Lucie (Ostuni, Italy; Budapest, Hungry A Smith Gallery, Praxis Gallery, Texas Photographic Society, Photoplace Gallery, South X Southeast, Southeast Center for Photography, The Katonah Museum of Art, The Hammond Museum and the Griffin Museum of Photography.

Statement:

My early work was primarily black and white (analog) photography. It wasn’t until the late 1980’s that I also became very interested in color and eventually embraced digital photography, incorporating Social Commentary and Social Documentary genres.

While scanning and revisiting my black and white archive, I noticed a certain spontaneity in my imagery which seemed to tap into a more subconscious realm. I have great admiration for Cartier Bresson, Robert Frank and Diane Arbus, whose black and white work continue to influence me.
