Maureen Ruddy Burkhart is an award-winning and internationally exhibited artist. She received her BFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1976 and went on to work in film, documentary photography and always came back to her first love—fine art photography.
In recent years, Maureen has been working with gilding her photographs of birds, plants, and landscapes with different types of gold and silver leaf. She draws inspiration from historical artist drawings of these subjects as a way to elevate their beauty and emphasize their importance in our environment.
Maureen’s work has been exhibited in China, New York, Barcelona, Denver, Boulder and her home town of Longmont, Colorado, where she was the 2013 Artist of the Year at the Firehouse Art Center. Her work has been widely published, including Black & White Magazine, the British Journal of Photography, All-About-Photo.com, and Feature Shoot Magazine. Her work is in the permanent collection of the International Museum of Dance.
As an artist living and working in these trying times, Maureen consciously seeks to portray beauty for its own sake…and maybe save the world too.
