Statement:

Gentoo Penguins are sea birds, spending most of their lives in the ocean. But once they reach maturity, they spend several months each spring on land, raising a new crop of penguin chicks.  I photographed this gentoo colony on the Antarctic peninsula, at Neko Harbor. It’s a busy place, with males and females engaged in building nests out of small rocks and incubating their eggs. A wonderland indeed—I felt privileged to be a part of their activities.
