Bio:
Nancy A. Scherl is a fine art portrait photographer based in New York City. She distinguishes between her social commentary and social documentary work. The former is often staged, white the latter is not. Stylistically, Nancy emulates cinema verite’ and incorporates Cartier Bresson’s decisive moment in her work, and she often blurs the boundaries between pictorial, social documentary and street genres.
Statement:
During my recent travel experience, in France, with a camera in hand, I was lured by the French people! I wanted to capture their spirit, their sophistication and their personalities above all else. This portrait is of a commuter at the Gere de Lyon Train Station, in Paris. Her Puli dog caught my eye, but she too, had a charming way about her!!!
