Traci Dickson is an award-winning nature photographer residing in Suwanee, Georgia.  Influenced by her outdoor experiences growing up on the West Coast of Canada and the works of Canadian naturalist and painter Robert Bateman, Traci’s documentary and abstract nature photography reflect with gratitude and awe what we all see, but maybe never pay close attention to.

Traci studied photography through the New York Institute of Photography and the Atlanta School of Photography and is a member of the Georgia Nature Photographer’s Association. Driven by a playful interaction with a setting, the art of her capture is free from rules and embraces intentional, yet random movements.  Approaching her subjects with childlike curiosity and playfulness, Traci brings forth the intimacy of what’s in her heart.  Her images express the emotion experienced and her reverence for an interaction with nature. Through her work, Traci hopes to help children, families, and communities reengage their connection to the natural world.

As a photographer, Traci’s strength lies in capturing the beauty and wonder of nature with light, color, structure and texture. By using a slow shutter speed and moving the camera during exposure, the colors, shapes and textures blend within the frame, extending her vision beyond just what her eyes see.

Traci has received recognition regionally and nationally for her art, including Third Place for Wildlife Photography in Outdoor Photographer Magazine, First Place in the Suwanee Arts Center Juried Photography Competition, First Place in the Johns Creek Arts Center Members/Student Juried Exhibit, Second Place in the GNPA Ansel Adams Juried Exhibition, Honorable Mention in the Suwanee Arts Center Spring Awakenings Juried Competition, Honorable Mention in the Oatland Island Wildlife Juried Competition and Second Place in the GNPA Smoky Mountains Competition.

Traci’s  photographic works reside in private collections in the United States and Canada and in Emory Hospital Midtown.

Equipment:  Traci shoots with a Nikon D850 and her favorite lenses for intentional camera movement are her Nikkor 28-300mm, 24-70mm and 70-200mm lens.
