Statement about the image: Labyrinth and Mesa was taken at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico. It was an image that I knew I wanted to create before I went there this past spring. I had tried to get it when I was there before, but due to my limited knowledge of how to plan for the image, I was not able to get it right. This spring, this shot was on my priority list.
I was there for a photography workshop where we were to create a story using photographs. My theme was the juxtaposition of the old and the new as Ghost Ranch is making some amazing strides forward with its programming, its accommodations, its food, and grounds. In this photo, the Mesa represents the old and the Labyrinth the new. Although the labyrinth has been at Ghost Ranch for a number of years, yet it is new compared with the Mesa. As you walk the labyrinth in this magnificent surrounding, you cannot help but experience Peace.
