BIO: In November 2025, Susan May Tell’s project was selected a TOP 50, for 2025 PhotoLucida’s Critical Mass.

Her work is in Smithsonian Museum’s Samuel Wagstaff Collection. Her Oral History and Catalog of Works are at Columbia University. She has received Fellowships to MacDowell (next begins this November 2025); Yaddo; VCCA.

Her photograph Appalachian Mist  is on exhibition currently at the Woodmere Art Museum, Philadelphia. It was curated by Collector and Gallerist Peter Fetterman.

Since January 2023 her work has been in more than 30 group exhibitions across the USA; and Europe. Her solo traveling exhibition (2005-2021) features 4×6 feet gelatin silver prints: Fort Lauderdale, Boston area, and Columbus OH.

Statement: My artistic inspiration is imagist poetry. My favorite photographer is André Kertész who selected my portrait of him for the frontispiece of his final book. A special honor: he made me dinner on my birthday. He told me, and I quote: “You have the feeling. You have the composition.”
