Bio:
Dave Shafer (b.1962) is a documentary and fine art photographer whose work has been published, commissioned, collected and exhibited widely. Born in Rochester, Pennsylvania where his passion for photography was fixed in him by his father, an accomplished amateur photographer. Initially drawn to college on a baseball scholarship, he ultimately earned a Bachelor of Arts from Point Park College. For over three decades, Dave has worked in fine art, editorial, and commercial photography, forging visual stories rooted in a documentary process. Dave has been recognized with five Communication Arts “Photography Award of Excellence” honors, and in 2020, the International Regional Magazine Association named him “Photographer of the Year”. Today, Dave can be found chasing stories and light throughout the great state of Texas capturing the raw, defiant spirit of its people and places.
