Bio (1949—):

New York-based Laurie Peek is an award-winning visual artist with over twenty-five years experience making images. With a Masters of Fine Arts in Photography from the Visual Studies Workshop/Univ. Buffalo, NY, she’s been a photo educator, photo-librarian, photojournalist and fine artist.

Peek’s work has been widely exhibited in the US and worldwide: “International Garden Photographer of the Year,”UK, (three times); “Finalist” Photolucida’s ”Critical Mass 2026 and 2023”and Klompching Gallery’s 2024 “Fresh” competition.

Peek’s work has been reviewed and published in: Afterimage, Dek Unu Magazine, Dodho Magazine, FotoNostrum, Artdoc Photography Magazine, Fraction Magazine, A Photo Editor, Lenscratch, and The Photo Review. 

Her photographs are in the collections of: The Museum of Fine Art Houston (TX), Paterson Museum (NJ), Center for Photography at Woodstock (NY), Center Santa Fe (NM) and Visual Studies Workshop (NY), as well as the private collections of Mikhail Baryshnikov and Paula Tognarelli.

 

Statement:

“Between the Leaves” is a series of gilded diptych photographs on vellum — a conversation between two entities sliding into one.
