BIO:

Michael Marshall is an artist and photographer whose work explores the intersections of science, environment, and human influence, engaging complex questions about place, systems, and sustainability. Drawing on a background in physics and a multidisciplinary practice spanning photography and mixed media, he approaches art as a form of inquiry and collaboration that bridges analytical and intuitive ways of knowing.

Statement:

From the project, On Timber and Titanium, tracing the entangled relationships between extraction, labor, and landscape in Georgia’s coastal plains, where industry and ecology continually shape one another. Placing industrial sites in dialogue with forests, rivers, and marshes, the work frames conservation and development as interdependent systems and invites reflection on how materials, economies, and environments are bound together.
